I ran cross country and track for 3 years in high school and ran cross country for 2 years in college. At that time I had already joined the Tuesday Night Turtles running club and was running many road races. In 2001/2002 I started training more seriously with the help of Ray Nelson, and in 2003 I set a PB in every distance I ran. That year was also the year of my first marathon, and I have been trying new races ever since. After the ENDURrun maybe I will finally get back to training seriously for a marathon and figure the distance out! |

The ENDURrun sounds like the extreme challenge I've been looking for. I have been planning to run The ENDURrun since 2006. I'm looking forward to this event, it will be the highlight of my running season. |

Ran in high school in the '80s and occasionally through university, work, and children for 15 years. Ran a 38min 10 km in highschool, but this was a long time ago. My goal is to do a sub 40 soon. Started running seriously in 2004 again. I've done 8 marathons which I really love. |

If you ask me before a race I'd say Marathon, if you
ask me after a race I'd say 100m! |
| Favourite race food, drink |
Nutrition is always a challenge for me during
a race and I'd prefer to go sans-food if I could finish without it, but to
keep me going I prefer Clif Shots and e-Load. By the end of a marathon I'm
lucky if I can get my regularly scheduled water to go down! |
| Running history |
I started running in 2003 for health reasons, but didn't
compete in my first road race until September 2004 when I ran the
Scotiabank half marathon. It was a challenge and I hurt afterward, but the
excitement of the race had me hooked. I ran the Scotiabank full marathon
in 2005 followed by Ottawa and Niagara Falls in 2006 and culminating in
Mississauga in the spring of 2007. In between these long races I've run
5k's, 5 milers, and Around the Bay 30 km in Hamilton. Between road running
I take part in a few adventure races each year including Storm the Trent,
Raid the Hammer, Salomon Winter Adventure Challenge, and even a couple
urban adventure races. I also enjoy playing team sports and have played
Ultimate Frisbee for 11 years. My goal at the ENDURrun is to finish in one
piece and to take the first step toward running ultra-marathons (I'm not
sure which is worse: 50 km all at once or 160 km in eight days...I suppose
I'll find out). |

I started running for fitness and recreation in 1994. I ran
my first marathon in 1995 and qualified for Boston. I was hooked! I had
small breaks from hard training since then, but always ran for fitness and
recreation during the breaks. In total, I have run 10 marathons including
Boston three times. Last summer, I was inspired by what I saw at the
ENDURrun. I began logging more miles in the fall under the guidance of Ray
Nelson, who is also the coach of last year's winner, Bob Jackman. I trained
for a spring marathon and achieved a PB by 4 minutes. |

My 2007 running goal is to finish my first 100 miler (hopefully under 24 hrs). My first two attempts (both in 2006) ended at 60 miles and 93 miles respectively (I was at 93 miles in under 20 hrs but physically just could not continue). I learned valuable lessons from both races and will finish in 2007. |

I graduated from university and quit smoking in the same month in 1991, and I started running to keep from gaining weight. I ran my first marathon (Marine Corp) in 1993 and was hooked immediately. I have since finished 30 marathons (including 3 Bostons), 18 ultramarathons, and 4 ENDURruns. In hindsight my 1st ENDURrun finish in 2003 was my springboard into trail running and ultramarathoning. |

I started running December 2005 to prepare for a 46k Cancer Run at the school I teach at. I hated running and I still hate the practice part, but I love the competitions. Running a race is just a fun way to spend some time and a great way to set an example for my kids (my
own and the ones I teach). Since my first Cancer Run I've been in 26 races and
my favourites are the ones with the 'Clydesdale' category - I finally get a
chance to win some medals! |

Ran cross country in high school, and continued off and on ever since. Running has been an excellent complement to my great appreciation for rich (unhealthy) foods. I have completed an annual marathon since 1998, with the most memorable in Maui a few years ago. This is my third year as a guest runner in the ENDURrun. Thanks to Lloyd and his team for organizing this premier event! |

I like marathon and ultra more than short distances. Most of my history is earned in Japan. I moved to Canada in July 2006. Chris, who is a 2006 Ultimate finisher, let me know about ENDURrun. Please help making my new history here in Canada! |
