Thanks to Melanie for saving this post from the bit bucket!
I just finished the 2007 ENDURrun for my first time, and had such an awesome week that I have already committed to returning in 2008. This event is superbly organized and supported by Lloyd Schmidt, his family, and their army of volunteers. I've never received such personal attention or felt so much support in any event I've run in the past (small or large). If you're looking for a reason for running ENDURrun in 2008, look no further.
10 Reasons to Run ENDURrun 2008
1. The superbly designed courses are both fun and challenging to run and incorporate many different aspects found in road and trail running. 2. The amazing support you'll receive not only during the race, but in the months leading up to (and after) the race as well. 3. The awesome swag. I went home with a cool Saucony bag, four new shirts, an ENDURrun pin, a new Saucony 550ml water bottle, boxes of recovery drinks, and more completion hardware (medals, plaques, certificates) than I could carry! 4. Incredible pre- and post-race food. If you're tired of water, bananas, and stale bagels then you've got to take part in at least one of the stages of this event. Lloyd's wife Julie puts on a full spread of every imaginable food AFTER EVERY STAGE! From a wide selection of fruits, bagels, cream cheeses and drinks to full on meals including hamburgers, sandwiches, and home made salads, you will definitely not go under nourished during this event. And the desserts...just don't forget you have to run the next day! 5. Lloyd's dedication to the success and enjoyment of each runner in this event. Every day we were given the opportunity to feed back on the course, support, and anything else that concerned us. And if we made a suggestion, it was fixed for the next stage. I was even asked prior to the event to tell him what food I'd like to eat! You don't get that personal attention at your regular running event! 6. The fantastic volunteers who setup, tore down, handed us water, gatorade, gels, and took pictures every day. It was a tough event to run, but the volunteers were working far longer hours making sure things were perfect. 7. The incredible competitive field of runners who supported each other and brought out the best in all of us. There were too many PBs to count, which has to be a sign of the influence of running with such strong talent. 8. The beautifull weather. I don't know how Lloyd managed it, but he selected a week in August with perfect weather. And it was sandwiched between a heat wave and a cold snap, no less! 9. The accessibility of this race is phenomenal. You can run the entire 7 stages, or run the shorter 3 day sport event. If that's still too daunting and you want to experience the ENDURrun, you can enter a relay team (a different person runs each stage) or you can even come out as a guest on a couple of stages. There's something in this race that any runner can accomplish. 10. And the top reason to run ENDURrun 2008...the challenge. You'll be amazed by what you can accomplish at this event.
I hope to see you at ENDURrun 2008.
